The Gold Cup is the most important competition of the Nordic Folkboat. It is comparable to a World Cup. In 1963, the Cup itself was donated by Senator Hagelstein of Luebeck. Since then, the Cup has been held annually either in Denmark, Sweden or Germany.
Whichever Club wins the Cup consecutively 6 times is allowed to keep it. The first Cup ever allowed to be kept was won in 1974 by the København Amatør Sejlklub (KAS). The second Cup was won in 1982 by Kerteminde Sejlklub.
The Gold Cup 2016 will take place for the first time ever in Finland from July 25th to 30th. The Cup will be hosted by Helsingfors Segelklubb located in Lauttasaari, Helsinki.
